aking for your fur baby doesn't have to be complicated. All you need is one mold, safe ingredients, and a little bit of love.
You don't need professional tools or a complex formula to bake for your dog. In fact, you only need three things: Safe ingredients, a little time, and a Moodmold Custom Mold that you love to use.
Here is a beginner-friendly guide to making that very first batch.
🛑 Before We Start: Safety First
This is the most important part. While we love sharing food with our pets, some human ingredients are toxic to them.

❌ NEVER use these ingredients:
-
Chocolate (Toxic to dogs)
-
Onions / Garlic
-
Grapes / Raisins
-
Sugar or excessive Salt
-
Foods containing Xylitol (Always check your peanut butter label!)
✅ Our Philosophy:
-
Less is more: Keep the ingredient list short.
-
Zero additives: No added sugar or salt.
-
Natural flavor: The shape comes from the mold; the taste comes from nature.
Recipe: Basic Pumpkin & Oat Treats
(Yields approx. 15–20 cookies)
This recipe is perfect for beginners because it's forgiving and healthy.
Ingredients:
-
120g Oat Flour (Tip: You can simply blend rolled oats in a food processor until fine)
-
80g Pumpkin Puree (Steamed and mashed)
-
1 tbsp Peanut Butter (⚠️ Important: Must be unsweetened, unsalted, and Xylitol-free)
-
1 Egg
Texture Tip: If the dough is too dry, add a tiny splash of water. If it is too wet, add a pinch more oat flour.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 | Mix the Dough
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix with a spoon or your clean hands. You don't need to over-knead it; just bring it together into a ball.
-
Ideal Texture: Non-sticky and slightly firm (a bit stiffer than human cookie dough).
Step 2 | Roll It Out
On a clean surface or baking paper, roll the dough to a thickness of about 5–8mm.
-
👉 Pro Tip: Don't make them too thick. Thinner cookies are crunchier and easier for puppies and small dogs to chew.
Step 3 | Shape with Moodmold
This is the fun part! Gently press your Moodmold into the dough. Lift it slowly and remove the excess dough around the edges.
-
The Result: You will see a clear outline of your pet! Each cookie might look slightly different—that’s the charm of handmade treats. They don't need to be factory-perfect.
Step 4 | Bake
-
Preheat Oven: 170°C (approx. 340°F)
-
Time: 20–25 minutes
-
For Extra Crunch: If you want a harder treat that stores longer, turn off the oven but leave the cookies inside for another 10 minutes to dry out.
Step 5 | Cool Down & Enjoy
⚠️ Patience is key! Freshly baked cookies are too hot and too soft for dogs. Let them cool completely on a rack.
-
First Taste: Offer a small piece first and observe your dog to ensure they love it (and have no tummy issues).
Mold Care & Hygiene
To keep your wooden mold in perfect condition for years:
-
Wash with warm water immediately after use.
-
Let it air dry completely before storing.
-
Hygiene Tip: If you use the same mold for human cookies and pet treats, we recommend washing it thoroughly between uses.
A Little Reminder from Us
These treats aren't meant to replace a meal. They are a way of saying, "I did this for you."
You don't need to do it every day, and it doesn't need to be perfect. The time you spend rolling the dough, waiting by the oven, and the smell filling the kitchen—that time is the real gift.
